Polo at Clevedon
The Auckland club was one of the first polo clubs to be formed in New Zealand. The Club lost the first Savile Cup played, in 1890, to the Christchurch Club, but 100 years later won the Centennial Savile Cup back from Christchurch. The Club has won the Savile Cup seven times. This year we are also operating the Ardmore Club, which was formed several years ago and is also a past winner of the Savile Cup.
The club has its own grounds, full-time managers and groundsmen, and runs polo at least four times a week. It is affiliated to New Zealand Polo Association.
The New Zealand Open, run each February, attracts the largest sponsorship and spectator crowd and is a highlight in the social calendar.
