Orere Point
Tawhitokino Regional Park is one of Auckland’s best-kept secrets. This small remote park has no road access but can be reached by a 40 minute walk from the Kawakawa Bay Road. The effort will be rewarded with a beach that is classed as one of the region’s most breath-taking, where Pohutukawa trees lay their roots in the golden sand and lean towards the sapphire ocean. Further on is Orere Point (above), where the views across to the Coromandel are unsurpassed. Just south from Orere Point is Tapapakanga Regional Park. The park offers some lovely walks, more spectacular views and a number of significant heritage sites
