These days in Howick there are bustling pavement cafés and fine dining opportunities along the main street. Attractively presented shops offer designer fashion labels and quality décor, art and giftware. The central precinct also provides banks, real estate agencies and other professional services. In the village square the Howick Information Service has friendly volunteers on hand to help make your visit to Howick more enjoyable. With a vast array of printed material on events, activities, people and places in the district and beyond, you will find a wealth of information at your fingertips.

Every Saturday the Howick Bazaar is held from 9 am – 2 pm outside the Information Serviceon Picton Street. Their slogan is appropriately ‘expect the unexpected’ and the stalls reflect this with an eclectic selection of locally produced arts and crafts. The fun village atmosphere is enhanced by live entertainment.
