Over 70 per cent of visitors to New Zealand arrive at Auckland Airport in Manukau. Manukau is ‘Where New Zealand Welcomes the World’. And it has always been so. The area was first settled by Māori making the long journey in waka (canoes) from their Polynesian homeland. These early stories of migration and settlement are depicted in the intricate carvings of Pou Kapua, situated outside the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre.
