On the Water

With 320kms of sparkling coastline there is plenty of opportunity for just 'messing about in boats'.  It's what New Zealander's do best – and as former home of the America’s Cup, the Auckland region is well known for its maritime heritage.

Nothing is more relaxing than pottering around exploring the hidden coves and tiny beaches of Manukau and Auckland, only accessible from the water.  Take a charter - and remember to pack the picnic!

And ferries are not simply for getting from A to B.  From either Half Moon Bay or Pine Harbour you can island hop across the Hauraki Gulf.

For those seriously into fishing, there are plenty of opportunities to hire some tackle, join a boat and make new friends.  But do observe the 'no bananas' rule!

Manukau – a nautical, maritime playground.
